Andy Watterson

Andy Watterson  (second on left) started playing tennis as a toddler at Teddy’s Toddler Tennis in Australia.

Andy Watterson went on the tennis scholarship to Saint Mary’s College of California, USA. He has spent the last 5 years playing tennis at Saint Mary’s where he played as a Redshirt Junior.

In 2021, Andy joined the Men’s New York University (NYU) tennis team as a Graduate Student.

Some of Andy’s Career Highlights include:

AT NYU 2021-22:

  • Went 2-4 in singles (1-2 at No. 4, 1-2 at No. 5) and 2-8 in doubles (2-7 at No. 2, 0-1 at No. 3), all in dual matches
  • Dropped just two games (6-2, 6-0) in a No. 5 singles win against Rochester (4/23)
  • Won both doubles matches with partner Joseph He at the second flight against Manhattanville (4/9) and Rochester (4/23)

AS A REDSHIRT JUNIOR (2020-21): 

  • Played singles in four matches … won (7-6, 7-3, 6-3) against Sacramento State on Mar. 12 … also took the court against Nevada, Loyola Marymount, and Portland.
  • Mention with a team-best 3.70 GPA … played in singles versus UC Irvine … two of his doubles matches went unfinished … picked up wins in singles and doubles on the first day of Pacific Invitational … won his first round singles matchup at ITA Regionals … won four matches at Aggie Invite between singles and doubles … also appeared at Bulldog Classic.

AS A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2018-2019): 

  • Collected a 6-4 win over Nevada with partner Damon Kesaris in the top doubles slot … appeared in two singles matches … made collegiate debut against UC Irvine on Feb. 1 … played against No. 25 BYU in the No. 3 doubles position.

AS A REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE (2019-20): 

  • Appeared in three doubles matches and one singles match … named a WCC All-Academic Honorable

AS A FRESHMAN (2017-18): 

  • Did not make an appearance for the Gaels.
