Teddy’s Toddler Tennis comes to Coops
In keeping with our aim of providing the very best coaching programmes at Club Coops the 2001 year has seen the start up of a new tennis coaching programme specifically designed for the 4-7 year old age group. Most of today’s top players started at this age developing their tennis skills as they grew and muscle co-ordination for the game of tennis was developed at an early age.
Heading up the programme is Teddy Bednarek who developed the tennis skills and coordination aspects of unique beginner coaching lessons for toddlers.
Teddy began the programme in Perth, Western Australia where it was hugely successful. So successful in fact that he was co-opted to go to Germany to begin his programme there.
After 2 years in Germany Teddy and his family decided Australia was a nicer place to live and Queensland in particular may be the best spot to settle. We are fortunate to have Teddy start up here at Coops.
To maximise the enjoyment and comfort for kids out of our hot sun in summer all programmes will be conducted on our brand new indoor court specifically designed for the Teddy’s Toddler programme.
We are excited about the concept and the new indoor carpeted court looks great.

Dear Sir/Madam,
We have entered a new era for tennis in Queensland. “Club Coops” – the number one tennis centre in Brisbane, affiliated with “Tennis Queensland” and “Tennis Australia” in conjunction with “Teddy’s Tennis Academy” is proud to present a new, exciting concept of introducing children between the ages of 4-7 to tennis.
In this revolutionary programme we use a variety of different exercises and games in connection with tennis, concentrating on eye-hand-ball co-ordination, balance, space awareness, etc., with the help of our exclusive tennis equipment, specially designed for that young age group. This introductory tennis programme emphasises on a variety of exercises to develop a broad base of skills crucial to a child’s future intellect, physical fitness and general health.
Current international tennis stars began at an early age, Steffi Graf at 4, Martina Hingis was hitting the balls at the age of 2. Peter Sampras and Patrick Rafter also started as toddlers. (Pat Rafter has been our star pupil to date as he trained here for 5 years in his school days.) AII the “Come and Try” classes will be held on our new indoor tennis court, specially designed for young children, away from the wind, rain and our harsh sun.
The programme will be conducted by Mr. Teddy Bednarek. Teddy brings into this undertaking his vast international tennis coaching expertise and experience.
We would like to take this opportunity to invite the children from your kindergarten (school, etc) to participate in the introductory tennis programme comprised of two stages:-
Stage One- In Your Place
Teddy will personally visit your centre to demonstrate basic racquet skills, introduce some games and talk about tennis. Time 30 minutes
Stage Two – At Coops
“Come and Try” classes. Parents participation welcome. Time 45 minutes.
Tennis racquets and balls will be provided by the programme for both stages.
We would appreciate the opportunity of further discussing our proposal.
Please forward all the correspondence to Mr Teddy Bednarek.
Yours faithfully
Ashley Cooper
Director
