Dear Teddy,
Thank you for your long and interesting letter of 19th May, 1997. This letter is written to lend you our support in principle for the further development of junior tennis and the facilities that are required to achieve this.
Our two eldest sons, Mark (8) and Peter (6), adore your innovative tennis coaching and look forward to their twice weekly lessons. For us, it is marvellous to see their tennis skills flourishing. Personally, we have had no experience of competitive tennis, although we both swam competitively and Tim played rugby and water polo for W.A. However, there are probably analogies that can be drawn across sports. World-class elite tennis players will emerge from a strong, large and healthy junior base. The latter will only occur if sufficient and excellent facilities for coaching, practising and competing are available from a young age, and role models, such as Kieran Perkins, who has done such a brilliant job for swimming, help to promote the sport.
Good luck in your endeavours which we will support in any way we can.
Wendy and Tim Davis.
